Monthly Website Content Audit: A Small Review With an Actionable Output

A recurring content review should produce a short owned action list, not a demand to rewrite the entire website. Use this inventory to find outdated claims and broken paths that affect real visitor tasks.

Copy the content review log

For each relevant page record: URL and language | purpose | business fact/source | observed issue | user effect | action | owner | review date | completion evidence.

  • Offer: service availability, inclusions and price references where used.
  • Contact: current phone, hours, location and destination.
  • Evidence: permitted photographs, project details and customer quotations.
  • Paths: enquiry buttons, useful guide links and language navigation.
  • Ownership: who can confirm the fact and approve the change.

Review the important pages first. Monthly is an illustrative cadence; changes to services or contact details may require immediate review.

A fictional small-site review

Service page: advertises a discontinued service. Action: owner confirms the appropriate replacement or removal and updates related references.

Contact page: hours conflict with the footer. Action: business owner confirms the current hours, then update both sources and affected languages.

Guides: a useful resource is published but not linked from the hub. Action: add a relevant navigable route and check it as a reader; sitemap presence alone does not make it easy to discover.

Prioritise by consequence

Wrong commercial information and an unusable enquiry route deserve attention before a stylistic preference. Record why an issue matters, not only that someone dislikes the wording.

Decide whether to correct, consolidate, retire or leave a page. Do not create another URL for a topic already served well. If a page is retired, assess incoming links and the appropriate visitor destination rather than blindly redirecting everything to the homepage.

Verify the correction and retain the source

Check the changed fact and directly affected links or languages after publication. Reuse evidence for unrelated content instead of repeating the whole website review each time.

Keep a dated source for important commercial claims and name the next review trigger. Editing a date without changing or checking the underlying content is not a meaningful update. This is an editorial maintenance method, not a Google ranking formula or a promise that frequent publishing increases traffic.
